Elevating Recovery: The Transformative Benefits of C-Section Scar Massage
The birth of a child marks a momentous occasion in a woman’s life, yet the journey to motherhood can bring unexpected challenges.
The majority of women having a c-section are not only unprepared for it, but looking after a newborn(s) means that the post surgical care and rest that we would normally grant ourselves after such a procedure simply doesn’t happen. As time passes and the wound heals we are left with physical and emotional changes in our body without questioning or knowing if anything can be done to help. I truly believe that knowledge and information empowers us, and whilst a c-section can be a difficult journey, but with some great advice and support that journey can be a lot easier!
As a scar work practitioner I can help:
• Improve the look and feel of the scar and the surrounding tissues.
• Help you feel confident touching and interacting with your scar.
• Reduce discomfort which you may feel with certain movements.
• Scar may contribute to lower back pain, bladder and bowel issues, or pain during intercourse.
• Allow the area to feel like you again.
• Potentially help with the emotional side of your birth story.
• Take back control over your physical and mental wellbeing.

A full assessment of the scar helps guide you with your recovery, giving you the reassurance you need.
The scar work is a gentle therapy which I combine with other therapeutic techniques and the use of the LymphaTouch. It is beneficial to come in for an initial treatment after your 6 week check, where I do a full assessment, make recommendations for early interventions, and treat gently away from the scar to help with the recovery. Direct C-section scar work is recommended from 10 weeks post partum onwards (may be longer if there have been complications with infections).
Please note C Section scar work is not recommended during pregnancy.
